Penalty Stroke

SEOUL - A South Korean golfer has paid a heavy price for an embarrassing shot that landed his caddy in hospital.

The country's supreme court has fined the golfer two million won ($1,400) for the incident at a club in Gunsan Province two years ago.

Media reports said he had wound up for a huge swing at the third hole but slipped and sent the ball rocketed off to strike his caddy -- standing eight metres behind him -- in the stomach.

The caddy needed seven weeks of hospital treatment.

SWIVEL HIPS SAYS:

This is the first I have ever heard of a golfer being fined for hitting somebody with a golf ball. And, it was his caddy to boot. Never mind the seven weeks of hospital treatment that was required, the golfer was lucky he didn’t kill the caddy.
