Cam Wake Gets Nod As TSN.ca MOP In West
28/10/2008 05:08

Already a lock to win the Most Outstanding Defensive Player award, Cameron Wake has been given the nod by TSN.ca users to be the West Division nominee as Most Outstanding Player.
In a poll conducted on TSN.ca, the B.C. Lions defensive end garnered 34% of the vote and edged out Saskatchewan Roughriders' running back Wes Cates (30%) and Stampeders' quarterback Henry Burris (29%).
Wake has enjoyed an outstanding season leading the Lions' defence and collecting 20 quarterback sacks. With one game remaining in the regular season, he is 6.5 sacks short of the single season record of 26.5 held by former Lion James 'Quick' Parker.
Wake's value doesn't always translate on the stats page because his disruptive force makes those around him better. It's no accident the Lions hold down the top three spots in the sacks race with Aaron Hunt (11) and Brent Johnson (10) taking advantage of the fact that teams have to double up on Wake to minimize his effectiveness.

SWIVEL HIPS SAYS:
This will be a great controversy when Henry Burris is nominated to be the western conference “torch bearer” for the CFL’s Most Outstanding Player award, as voted by the CFL sports writers of Canada.
