When you are the oldest living person in the country, officials like to honour you and Japan is no different.
When officials showed up at his home to see him, the family chased them away, saying he didn’t want to see anyone.
After repeated attempts, they became suspicious and demanded entry.
And there he was in bed.
Dead.
